I’m seeking input on the ethical implications of using AI for patient triage and resource allocation, especially in crisis situations like pandemics. How do we ensure fairness while maximizing efficiency?

Arthur, this is a complex issue. We’ve been working on multi-objective optimization algorithms that balance efficiency with equity. The challenge is defining ‘fairness’ in a way that’s universally acceptable.

From a startup perspective, we’re developing triage AI that incorporates social vulnerability indices. But we’re struggling with how to weight these factors without introducing bias.

This is a key area of policy concern. We’re considering mandating regular ethical audits for triage AI. What metrics would be most meaningful for such audits?
